With the imminent release of Venom: The Last Dance, scheduled for October 25, Sony could be on the verge of revolutionizing its Spider-Man Universe by introducing one of the most powerful and feared characters in the Marvel universe: Knull, the God of the Symbiotes. The film, the third and perhaps final chapter of the Venom trilogy, will not only mark a fundamental stage for the character of Eddie Brock played by Tom Hardy, but could lay the foundations for a much more ambitious future for the SSU (Sony’s Spider-Man Universe).

Venom: The Last Dance, a very powerful villain who could change everything
For comic book fans, Knull needs no introduction. Creator of the Symbiotes and herald of the primordial void, this ancient and powerful being has given rise to a race of creatures capable of infesting entire planets. Introduced as the main villain of Venom: The Last Dance, Knull was briefly touched upon in the film’s final trailer, but his comic book backstory is vast and rich with storytelling potential. Knull is the embodiment of chaos and destruction, a threat that goes beyond Earth’s forces and has the potential to revolutionize Sony’s cinematic landscape, similar to what Thanos did in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Just as Thanos was built up as the MCU‘s big bad for over six years before his triumphant debut in Avengers: Infinity War, Knull could represent the supernatural threat that unites the anti-heroes of the SSU. In the Marvel comic King in Black, Knull manages to lead a cosmic invasion on Earth with an army of symbiotes, making him a Thanos-like figure of power but with an even more disturbing and apocalyptic aura.
The title Venom: The Last Dance suggests that this chapter could mark the end for Eddie Brock and his symbiote. But, as is often the case in comics, death is rarely final. Whether it is a heroic sacrifice or a temporary defeat, Knull’s presence could represent a threat that is too great to be resolved in a single film. The most intriguing hypothesis is that Sony plans to make Knull a recurring presence in its universe, a villain who will make his way through several films, involving other figures such as Morbius, Kraven, and even Spider-Man.
